Archaeological attempts on Castle Island have unearthed important evidence of the location’s layered record, highlighting its strategic and household significance over hundreds of years. Excavations unveiled an early medieval fortification layer, characterised by a two to three-meter-thick enclosure wall situated in a depth of a meter and a fifty
